MobilePay for your club: the options, the prices and how to apply

A Danish club can take MobilePay in several ways, and the price depends on which. The options, what they cost, what you need in place, and when a bank transfer with a reference is enough.

Members want to pay with MobilePay, and many clubs already take it, sometimes through the treasurer's private number. That's the setup you want to leave. Here are the ways a club can take MobilePay, what each costs, and how to get started.

Don't use a private MobilePay number or a Box

Private MobilePay is for private people. Vipps MobilePay's terms for private users forbid business use, and a Box is meant for collecting money between private people (and costs 19 kr. per 1,000 kr. paid into it).1 When dues land on a private number, the club's money mixes with the treasurer's own, and the accounts get hard to audit. When the treasurer changes, so does the number.

Four ways a club can take MobilePay

All prices are Vipps MobilePay's standard prices in October 2026. They can change, so check the price page before you choose.2

  • MobilePay number with an open amount. The club gets its own number, and the member types the amount. Vipps MobilePay itself names clubs and season dues as an example. Price: 0.99% per payment, no monthly fee and no setup fee.3 The catch is that you have to work out who paid what yourself.
  • MobilePay number with a shopping cart. Same price (0.99%),2 but the member picks from fixed items, such as "Senior dues 1,200 kr." Good for tournaments and the clubhouse café.
  • Payment links. You send a link to one person, who can pay with MobilePay or a card. Price: 1.49% + 1 kr. per payment, paid out after three days.4 Suits one-off payments.
  • Integrated payments and recurring payments. MobilePay is built into a website or a membership system, either as a single payment or as an agreement that charges dues every month or year. Price: 0.59% + 1 kr. per payment, changing automatically to 0.89% + 1 kr. from 1 January 2027. The price can differ when it runs through a partner.2

What does that mean in kroner? A 1,200 kr. fee costs about 12 kr. with a MobilePay number, 19 kr. with a payment link and 8 kr. with integrated payments (12 kr. after 1 January 2027). For 150 members the difference between a payment link and integrated payments is about 1,600 kr. a year, but the bigger saving is time: with integrated payments, the system knows who has paid.

What you need in place

  • An active CVR number. The club must be registered in Virk. If you don't have a CVR number, that's step one.
  • A Danish bank account, tied to the club's CVR number.5
  • A person with signing rights. For clubs, anyone with signing rights under the statutes can set up the agreement, and one signature is enough.6 Check who can sign for the club in your statutes.
  • Personal MitID. The person applying confirms their identity with their own, private MitID. Vipps MobilePay uses private MitID for this, not MitID Erhverv.7

How to apply

  1. Go to Vipps MobilePay's business portal and choose Denmark.
  2. Answer the questions about what you need, or pick the product you already know you want.
  3. Confirm your identity with MitID, find the club, and sign.8
  4. Wait for the answer. There's a credit check,8 and processing usually takes up to three working days for products used face to face and up to a week for online products.9 You get an email when the order is approved.

Note: MobilePay is being renamed Vipps in Denmark, and businesses switch to the new name and logo on 12 January 2027.10 Vipps MobilePay says only the name and logo change: the solution works as before and the MobilePay number stays the same, so there's no reason to wait.11

The alternative: a bank transfer with a reference

MobilePay isn't the only way. A plain bank transfer has no percentage fee, though it's worth checking your bank's price list for club accounts. It just needs every charge to have a unique reference that the member writes in the message field. Then the treasurer can reconcile the bank statement line by line instead of guessing from names. Many clubs offer both: MobilePay for people who want to pay right away, and a transfer for everyone else.

When you use Clubroom

Clubroom doesn't touch the money. You connect your own Vipps MobilePay agreement, and payments go straight to the club's account. For that you need an agreement with integrated payments; a plain MobilePay number isn't enough. See Take payments online. If members pay by bank transfer, every charge gets a reference, and you can upload the bank statement and have the payments matched. See Match bank transfers.
