A broadcast is one email to many members. It goes from your club, and replies go to the club's reply-to address. Send it to everyone, or to a segment: any filter on Members that you've saved.
1. Pick who it's for
To email everyone, skip to step 2. To email a group, save it as a segment first:
- Go to Members and filter the list, for example by a tag, a membership type or a status such as Expiring.
- Click Save as segment in the page's header, give it a name and click Save segment.
Your segments are listed under Segments on Members. Each one has Email them, which starts a broadcast to it, and Rename. A filtered list has Email them too.
2. Write the email
- Go to Broadcasts and click New broadcast.
- Under To, choose All active members or a segment. With many segments, type in Find a segment… to narrow the list.
- Write the Subject and the Message. Headings, lists, quotes, dividers, italic and links all work: type
/for the formatting menu. Type@to add a variable such as First name, which becomes each member's own. Click a variable in the text to say what's written when a member has nothing there. - Look at Preview to see it as members will.
3. Test, then send
- Click Send me a test. It lands in your own inbox, so you can check the links.
- Click Send, then Send now.
Before you send, the composer says who will be left out and why: Left out: members who said no to club news, have no email address, or whose email bounces.
Club news or a must-read?
Members choose for themselves whether they want Club news. A newsletter respects that choice. Receipts and renewal reminders are different: they always go out.
Calling the annual general meeting
The notice of an annual general meeting has rules of its own: when it must go out and what it must say. The free AGM notice generator writes it for you. Paste the result into a broadcast to All active members.
